After the surprise Halloween snowstorm, we’ve been lucky to have mostly clear and mild weather through the month of November. Maple Hurst Builders have taken full advantage of this good fortune, and construction at Bartlett Square is progressing at a steady pace. Cervone Deegan & Associates, your local experts in Jamaica Plain real estate, have also made use of the lovely weather to promote Bartlett Square.

In early November, we woke up early to help wake up JP with free coffee at the Green Street T. Then in the week before Thanksgiving, we hosted 40 brokers from Boston, Cambridge, and as far afield as Westwood at a hard hat lunch at the worksite.

Sheetrock is going up, and our lunch attendees were amazed by the attention to detail from Maple Hurst Builders. The builders are creating niches in the kitchens so that the refrigerators will sit flush with the cabinetry. These little touches create the impeccable craftsmanship that makes us so excited to be representing Jamaica Plain’s new green condos.

If you would like to explore the quality and convenience of life at Bartlett Square before the onset of New England winter, call us to schedule a showing at 617.895.6366.

Introducing Bartlett Square: Modern Condos, New Retail, Green Design

Your local experts in Jamaica Plain real estate, Cervone Deegan & Associates, are pleased to be listing the new condominiums at Bartlett Square, a mixed-use development adjacent to the Green Street station. This is the third in a series of blog posts highlighting the amenities, green construction techniques, and the neighborhood.

The building industry generates up to a quarter of all waste that goes into landfills. In contrast to most builders, Maple Hurst Builders has made a commitment to responsible recycling practices and can say this about Bartlett Square: To date, 13.41 tons (96%) of construction waste has been recycled and diverted from landfills on this project. But the environmental responsibility won’t end when construction is done.

Dig deeper and the better it gets: the building is designed to utilize green, eco-friendly practices. Residents will enjoy a high efficiency Kone elevator that uses much less energy than standard models and is made from 96% recycled materials. Solar panels will provide the electricity for the building’s common lighting. And most exciting of all is Jamaica Plain’s first-ever vegetative green roof – the plan is that 2100 sq ft on the top of the building will be planted with a dense layer of sedum. Sedum is an extremely hardy plant that insulates, reduces rainwater runoff, filters air pollutants, combats the urban heat island effect & beautifies the building.

Is there any doubt that Bartlett Square Condominiums will revitalize yet another corner of our fair neighborhood, Jamaica Plain? Already it is teeming with activity as the building takes shape and locals are talking about who might occupy the store fronts. Pre-sales have begun and based on the activity we are seeing – “up-sizers, down-sizers, first-timers, part-timers, singles, couples, families, JP newcomers, JP old-timers and everyone in-between in the community are coming to see Bartlett Square.”

Those are the words of Maple Hurst Builders’, Derek Boudreau and he is right on the money. With a variety of units – 1, 2 & 3 bedroom - plus elevator, underground parking and a 15 minute commute to downtown, Cervone Deegan & Associates at Coldwell Banker can attest to the fact that many of these amenities are on wish lists crossing all segments of home buyers in Jamaica Plain. With the promise of new shopping and restaurants, the retail spaces are the icing atop this hip and modern cake for the neighborhood and the 3,500+ people who pass through the Green Street T station every day.

Two of the units are already under agreement so, if Bartlett Square sounds like your dream home, drop us an email or call us at 617.895.6366… Cervone Deegan and Associates will look forward to sharing this exciting property with you.

Your local experts in Jamaica Plain real estate, Cervone Deegan & Associates, are pleased to be listing the new condominiums at Bartlett Square, a mixed-use development adjacent to the Green Street station. This is the second in a series of blog posts highlighting the amenities, green construction techniques, and the neighborhood.

It’s hard to believe that the sparsely built commercial strip running down Amory from Green Street was ever a neighborhood square, but alas it was. Before the automobile, the elevated orange line and a railroad station made Green Street the natural commercial center in Jamaica Plain at the turn of the 20th Century. Bartlett Square is named after Alden Bartlett, an insurance and real estate broker who began the transition of the Green Street area from unremarkable wooden shops to multistory brick commercial blocks. Today, Chris DeSisto of Maple Hurst Builders is carrying on Bartlett’s mission of visionary development with Bartlett Square.

If residents could dream of a developer they would want to revivify Bartlett Square, Maple Hurst Builders would have to be on the short list. Noted for his real estate vision, distinctive design and superb workmanship, Chris DeSisto is the builder of such properties as City Green, Willowbank, and Sigourney Homes. In each of those Jamaica Plain locales, Maple Hurst Builders brought an infusion of beauty and life.

The interiors of Bartlett Square Condominiums offer high-efficiency design and construction, and eco-friendly practices: a high efficiency Kone elevator, solar panels and JP’s first ever vegetative green roof. Open kitchens boast Energy Star stainless appliances, baths will feature custom limestone and tile with water-saving fixtures. Chris is a master woodworker, and residents can expect the customary Maple Hurst touches in wood, including hardwood floors throughout. Along with energy efficiency, one of the hallmarks of the project is attention to soundproofing for comfortable city living.

Other amenities include security, intercom, in-unit laundry hookups, and sought-after garage parking with bike storage. For the urban dweller, the setting is ideal – across the street from the T, the Southwest Corridor Park, bike paths to downtown and so many characteristic JP establishments like Canto 6 Bakery and The Brewery with a dozen popular businesses including Bella Luna and the Ula Cafe. In the other direction, it is a short walk up Green to Centre Street and Jamaica Pond teeming with a nearly endless number of activities and resources.

The project exudes an air of downtown cool in brick, metal & granite with a plethora of conveniences. Here’s a partial list of the specs:

Condo Units:

13 condo units offering 1, 2 and 3 bedrooms ranging in size from 750 sf to 1,660 sf

The 3-bedroom units include a penthouse overlooking a vegetative green roof from a large deck (currently under agreement) and two 3-bedroom duplex units with open studies and roof decks

Condo Features:

Open kitchen with Energy Star stainless appliances

Custom limestone and tile baths with water-saving fixtures

High-efficiency heating and cooling

Hardwood floors throughout

High-efficiency Low-E double-pane windows

Low VOC paints and finishes

Your local experts in Jamaica Plain real estate, Cervone Deegan & Associates, are pleased to be listing the new condominiums at Bartlett Square, a mixed-use development adjacent to the Green Street station. This is the first in a series of blog posts highlighting the amenities, green construction techniques, and the neighborhood.

How often have we, as residents of Jamaica Plain, exited the Green Street T and longed for a place to meet a friend, share a coffee or simply sit and enjoy the urban pulse & view of the bucolic Southwest Corridor Park? With the coming of Bartlett Square, that wish is a reality in the making.

Living in Jamaica Plain for 30 years, I have a particularly long view of the improvement Maple Hurst Builders is bringing to Bartlett Square. Three decades ago, at the age of 25, my first home purchase was a single family Victorian on Lamartine Street. The Southwest Corridor Park and the expansion of the orange line were underway at that point, and there were only mounds of dirt along the stretch where the train now hums along from Forest Hills to Back Bay, Downtown and beyond. Most of the homes in the area were not yet renovated (including mine!) and the canopy of trees that flank the park was absent. At best it had potential; the view from a colder eye could only be called bleak.

I recall one snowy evening in particular, when Boston was being whipped by a Northeaster. Driving was out of the question, 3 feet of snow blanketed the ground and there was no visibility. But my then partner and I needed some sustenance and braved a walk. We wandered south down Lamartine and could not make it past the intersection of Green and Elm Streets. The only establishment was a seedy bar where the lovely City Green condos now stand. The bar was open but held none of the charm of Doyle’s or Brendan Behan; we stayed only long enough to muster the trek home.

To now witness Jamaica Plain’s preeminent developer, Chris DeSisto of Maple Hurst Builders, grace us with yet another beautiful project including nearly 5,000 sq ft of new retail space is one of the reasons why I love selling real estate here and so many of us enjoy living here.

To be cont’d!
